Assoc. Prof. Nadya Magunska is an obstetrician-gynaecologist and minimally invasive surgeon with more than 15 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. She heads the Endometriosis Centre at Dr. Shterev Hospital in Sofia, where women with complex disease are cared for through close collaboration between gynaecological surgery, reproductive medicine and other supporting specialties.
She graduated from the Medical University of Sofia with the Golden Hippocrates award and later completed a PhD focused on infertility treatment in women with ovarian endometriosis. Her postgraduate training includes reproductive and endoscopic surgery in Strasbourg, Leuven, Hamburg and Kiel, as well as European certification in minimally invasive and reproductive endoscopic surgery through EAGS, ESGE and ESHRE.
Her clinical and research interests cover endometriosis surgery, fertility and reproductive outcomes, and the development of more effective diagnostic approaches. In 2025, the Bulgarian Medical Association recognised her in the field of innovative medicine and unique techniques, highlighting her work in introducing advanced, tissue-sparing laparoscopic and endoscopic surgical approaches into clinical practice.
Alongside her surgical work, Assoc. Prof. Magunska is actively involved in education around the early recognition of menstrual and reproductive health problems in girls and young women, including the training of healthcare professionals who may be among the first to meet adolescents living with severe menstrual pain.
At the Summit, she will speak on “Menstrual Pain Is Not Always Normal: Recognizing Endometriosis and Adenomyosis in Young Patients.”
