Dr. Magdalena Karadža, M.D., Ph.D.

Gynecologist, Reproductive Surgeon & Gynecologic Oncology Specialist, Croatia

Dr. Magdalena Karadža is a gynaecologist and reproductive surgeon at University Hospital Centre Zagreb (KBC Zagreb), with a distinctive dual subspecialty background in gynaecologic oncology and human reproduction. Her current work focuses on minimally invasive surgery for endometriosis and on preserving fertility when surgical treatment is required.

At KBC Zagreb, she is Head of the Reproductive Surgery Unit and works within a centre that sees a large number of patients with endometriosis. Her earlier training and practice in gynaecologic oncology continue to shape the way she approaches complex pelvic surgery: with particular attention to surgical anatomy, oncologic vigilance and the long-term reproductive consequences of treatment.

Dr. Karadža is part of the Croatian team in EUmetriosis, the Horizon Europe research consortium working to improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. Through this work, she collaborates internationally with specialists including Prof. Marie-Madeleine Dolmans in Belgium and Prof. Andrew Horne in the United Kingdom, with a particular interest in fertility preservation and personalised care.

Her scientific work reflects the same intersection between surgery and fertility. She has contributed to research on ovarian endometrioma surgery and ovarian reserve, rare forms of endometriosis, and fertility-sparing treatment in gynaecological conditions. She is also affiliated with the University of Zagreb School of Medicine and is involved in the education and mentoring of medical students.

At the Summit, Dr. Karadža will speak on “Endometriosis and Ovarian Cancer Risk: Balancing Vigilance, Fertility and Surgical Decision-Making.”
